Enhance classroom-based learning with a Remote Learning Package. Designed to support the curriculum and offer opportunities for children to handle, investigate and learn using objects, these themed boxes and accompanying activities have been created by our skilled learning professionals and expert curators to help teachers bring a museum experience into the classroom.

The Remote Learning Package offer includes:

  • A physical Object Handling Box with objects that can be handled that relating to a theme.

  • An accompanying digital Teacher’s Pack that is emailed before the loan period starts.

  • 1 class video call (on Zoom or MSTeams) for a ‘meet the expert’ style Q&A session.

Charges:

The cost of the Remote Learning Package is £50. If you are planning to use a box with than one class, any additional video calls can normally be accommodated at the cost of £25. Boxes are borrowed for 2 weeks. There is a charge of £10 for each additional week. An invoice will be sent at the end of the loan period.

Important Information:

Boxes are borrowed for 2 weeks.

Boxes must be collected from and returned to the Museum by the borrower during Museum opening hours.

The class video call usually takes place during the loan period and usually lasts about 45 minutes. We ask teachers to work with children to prepare some questions and send them to us beforehand so we can do our best to answer them well! Sometimes we might show a few extra objects, or children might show us some work they have completed, if appropriate.
