Until 1895 this weathercock sat atop the steeple of St Mary’s Church, Painswick until it was put out of action by a trigger-happy local who used it for target practice. Come and inspect the damage for yourself and get up close to the object that inspired the Museum’s logo. This is a rare opportunity to see the cockerel at ground level while we prepare a new home for it in our foyer, to be revealed in January.
