Museum in the Park and The Women’s Art Activation System are inviting midwives and retired midwives to come together and share stories of their experience of midwifery, maternity services, pregnancy and birth in the Stroud district.
Stroud Maternity Unit has such a rich and varied history and the Museum is keen to capture and record stories connected to pregnancy and birth in the District for generations to come.
You are invited to make a piece of bunting that reflects in some way your memories and experiences.
The completed string of bunting will be housed in the Museum’s collection as a record of this history. You will also be offered the chance to record or write down your story to go with the bunting.
This free session is to be held in Gallery 2 at the Museum in the Park.
Materials are provided - paper, cloth, sewing, paints and items for decoration.
You are also invited to bring along any objects relating to your stories that you would like to share with the group or even donate to the museum.
No previous creative experience is necessary and all levels of creativity are welcome!

The collective bunting is following the model of Mother Bunting originally conceived by Sarah Dixon in 2017.
