The Walled Garden - Celebrating 10 Years

October 2026 marks 10 years since the wonderful Walled Garden opened to the public. Come and help celebrate this milestone, and the incredible work of our amazing volunteer gardeners, and enjoy glimpses into the past, present and future of this uplifting, ever-changing place.

Pop Up Plant Sale from Exedra Nursery

17 & 18 October, 11am - 4pm (Walled Garden)

Exedra Nursery will be in the Walled Garden selling late-flowering perennials, shrubs and a range of spring flowering bulbs. Look out for an excellent range of tulips, perfect for planting in November. And check out the volunteer’s plant sale by the garden shed too.

Workshop: Eco Printing with Ruth Illingworth

17 October, 1.30pm - 4pm (Walled Garden Pavilion)

Join local artist and garden volunteer Ruth Illingworth and create an eco print picture on paper. All materials provided. Cost £30 (£25 Concs/Members), booking required.

Talk: The Story of Stroud’s Secret Garden

18 October, 2pm - 3pm (Walled Garden Pavilion)

An illustrated talk presented by Kevin Ward (Museum Development Manager) and Ann Taylor (Garden Volunteer Coordinator and former Museum in the Park Learning Officer). Discover how a derelict wasteland became the glorious garden of today, then enjoy tea and cake. Tickets £7, £6 Concs, £5 Museum Members, booking required.

Afternoon Slideshows: From Wasteland to Wonder

20, 21, 22 & 24 October, 2pm – 4pm (Meeting Room)

Drop in and meet some of the gardeners, see artwork inspired by the garden, and discover how a forgotten wasteland was transformed. Free entry, teas and coffees available to buy. Different slides will be shown each afternoon.

Half Term Creative Activities: ‘Garden Stories’ with Periscope

27, 28 & 29 October, 10.30am - 3.30pm (Walled Garden Pavilion)

FREE creative drop-in activities for everyone! Celebrate the garden as it is today, look back at its history, and imagine how it could be in the future. Drop in for as short or as long a time as you like. ‘Periscope’ are local artist-duo Alison Cockcroft and Emily Joy.
