Elsie Burford (later Smith) lived and raised her family in the Stroud District in the early to mid 20th century. Following her death in 1967, her family began donating her possessions to the Museum in the Park. We now have a collection of over 400 items that tell her story and that of her family.
In this display you can see items that reflect her interest in nature and her talent for crochet, knitting, sewing and embroidery. Many of Elsie’s items form a crucial part of our long-term displays, but here you can see objects from the wider collection.
The Space, first floor. Free but donations welcome.
