Panel Discussion: Inspired to Design

  • The Museum in the Park Stratford Park, Stratford Road Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, GL5 4AF United Kingdom (map)

With Artist-Blacksmiths Pete Hill, David Tucker, Carra Wassenberg and Sam Pearce, this panel discussion focuses on the design process and specifically how we might use design within blacksmithing work. Four professional smiths will delve into different aspects of design and their individual approaches, how they view the design process and use it for both commercial and personal work, how their approaches differ depending on the type of work and constraints or otherwise of the project at hand. The session will begin with a brief introduction from each of the panel members, and they will then respond to questions from the floor.

What does good design mean to you - do you give it enough consideration or thought?
Could you embrace design in a more holistic way to help you develop your work?
What could help in that journey?

We hope to see you in Stroud so we can all learn from one another. Makers and craftspeople from other disciplines welcome too!

Tickets £10. Booking required. Book online or call 01453 763394.

This event is linked to the Earth Fire Iron programme and takes place in the BABA event marquee behind the Museum in the Park. It is part of the BABA (British Artist Blacksmiths Association) AGM Weekend & Conference 2025.
