Talk With Del Barrett: What a Woman Can Do with a Camera

  • The Museum in the Park Stratford Park, Stratford Road Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, GL5 4AF United Kingdom (map)

The end of the 19th century and start of the 20th century saw significant progress in both photography and women’s emancipation.  And it is no coincidence that the two overlapped …

Many of the women’s contributions to photography have been airbrushed out of the history of the medium or attributed to men. Join Del Barrett, curator from Hundred Heroines Museum, dedicated to women in photography, for an illustrated talk about the early feminist pioneers of photography and how we can put the record straight.

The talk’s title is the title of an essay by Frances Benjamin Johnson, published in 1897.

Tickets £5. Booking required - book online or call 01453 763394
