Display: Stroud Town Crier

When Stroud Town Council was formed in 1990, it launched a competition to find a Town Crier. At Stroud Street Fair on 20th April 1991, Dennis Sleigh was chosen for this new position.

For his duties he was provided with a complete uniform, including a red woollen coat made from cloth donated by Strachans. The outfit was recently donated to the Museum and is now on display in the Collectors Room.
