Calling all gardeners! This is a rare chance to join Rosy Hardy, described as a ‘trailblazer who has shaped the way we garden’ by The Telegraph in 2022. Rosy Hardy founded Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants in 1988. Since then, it has become one of the UK’s recognised plantsman nurseries for herbaceous perennials, and in 2021, was recognised as an RHS Master Grower.
Rosy has been a consistent medal winner at RHS Flower Shows. She has won 24 Gold medals at The Chelsea Flower Show; making Rosy the most successful female floral exhibitor. Rosy is also a Gold Medal Garden Designer at The Hampton Court Flower Show, with Hardy’s picking up a Gold for their first ever garden at Hampton Court in 2001, getting the double in 2004 and overall has secured a total of 4 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Gilt medals for her garden designs. She was also awarded an RHS Chelsea Silver medal for her Brewin Dolphin Forever Freefolk Garden in 2016. In 2022 Hardy’s won another Gold medal in the Floral Marquee at Hampton Court, Best in Show in the Floral Marquee at RHS Hyde Hall and a Platinum award and Best Display of Summer Plants at BBC Gardeners World Live, NEC Birmingham.
The nursery based in Freefolk, just outside Whitchurch, Hampshire stocks over 1,200 varieties, the majority of which are grown outside and all are grown in peat free growing media. Hardy’s also propagates and breeds new varieties. And working with other breeders, Hardy’s has been instrumental in bringing new varieties to market including GEUM ‘Totally Tangerine’ PBR, GEUM ‘Scarlet Tempest’ PBR and NEPETA grandiflora ‘Summer Magic’ PBR.
Rosy is Vice President of the RHS, an RHS Judge and a member of the RHS Herbaceous Committee and the RHS Geum Trials Forum.
