Our bumper summer poetry reading will feature two new ‘Stroud Poets’ pamphlets and a new booklet from Alun Hughes published by Yew Tree Press.
Alun’s poems in ‘Down the Heavens’ focus on time spent in the Heavens at the top of Stroud. They celebrate the humble wilderness there and describe small things with care and a distinctive clarity. In the two new Stroud Poets pamphlets, each with the work of three poets, there are short clusters of work from Richard Austin (one of the initiators of the Stroud Poets project), Diana Humphrey, Caroline Shaw, Lyn Briggs, Katie Lloyd-Nunn and Jacqui Stearn.
There will also be contributions from members of the Dialect Writers workshop which is taking place that week at the museum (click here for details).
Everyone welcome but please reserve a place in advance. The evening will begin with a Dialect Summer School Social at 6.30 pm, all welcome to join summer school participants for drinks in the Walled Garden. Readings commence at 8pm. There will be light refreshments available, and books for sale. Free event but donations always appreciated.
