The first display in The Space (a new display areaavailable for use by the community), tells the story of Mike Hawkes who worked as a sign artist for nearly 40 years. During the 28 years he was employed by Whitbread he worked on about a 1000 signs for public houses and inns. He continued as a freelancer for a further 10 years from his studio in Whiteway. The display includes images and articles demonstrating his work.
