In 1975 the artist Winifred Nicholson invited the recently graduated Andy Christian too live indefinitely at her home, Banks Head on the Roman Wall. Through her he came to meet and was befriended by numerous contemporary artists and collectors including the Rev. Geoffrey Bennett friend and collector of L. S. Lowry, the sculptors David Nash and Andy Goldsworthy, tapestry weavers Lynne Curran and William Jefferies along with the wildly eccentric composer of the Doctor Who theme music, Delia Derbyshire.
This talk will focus on the textile aspects of the years spent at Banks Head with works from that time to enjoy and share.
