Stroud Arts Festival - ‘the grandparent of Stroud festivals’ - celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. This display looks back at the history of the event, which began as a small town festival of religious drama in 1947 and grew to an international celebration of art, music, drama and poetry.
Objects from the museum collection tell the story of the festival, its extraordinary founder Netlam Bigg, and its influence on the Stroud arts scene.
