Panel Discussion: Art and Wellbeing - Making a Difference

  • The Museum in the Park Stratford Park, Stratford Road Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, GL5 4AF United Kingdom (map)

Dr Simon Opher,  Stroud MP,  will chair this panel discussion. Simon initiated the ‘Art on Prescription’ programme through GP referrals across Gloucestershire and is Chair of the Government’s Health Committee. Four amazing panellists will consider the ways in which artists and craftspeople can help generate positive health outcomes for people with long-term health conditions, benefitting all ages, but especially young people, living with mental health and/or chronic pain challenges.

The panellists are Jo Antoniazzi, Lead Officer for Behavioural Support Services and Pupil Referral Units and EOTAS Carmarthenshire, Dan Austin, course leader in metalwork at Ruskin Mill, Nailsworth, Sam Guglani, Consultant Clinical Oncologist Gloucestershire NHS Trust, and creator of  ‘Medicine Unboxed’ and Arian Leljak, Cranham-based blacksmith.

Each panellist will speak of their experiences in which art, and especially forging, offers a source of inspiration, confidence and learning to all but especially young people with health challenges.  And - what can supporting others offer to us all as individuals and artist-blacksmiths? Join in for an open and constructive debate for forging futures for all.

This event takes place in the BABA event marquee behind the Museum in the Park and is part of the BABA (British Artist Blacksmiths Association)) AGM Weekend & Conference.

Tickets £10, booking required. Book online or call 01453 763394.
