Drop in and meet ‘Artist in Residence’ Rita Long who will be based in the Garden Pavilion between 2pm to 4pm on Sunday 4 August. Rita has been taking photographs in the Walled Garden and is working towards an exhibition at Lansdown Hall & Gallery in December this year.
“Throughout history flowers and plants have been used to symbolise parts of the human condition, lilies with death, a red rose for love, wilting flowers to symbolise the fragility of life ,and now more than ever the fragility of the planet.
My work is about preservation and logging our flowers and fauna and making them into art, using photography, drawing, drying and pressing the specimens that I collect form the gardens at the Museum in the Park.
I am especially interested in decay but the work I am showing at the moment is a celebration of colour and vitality, of hope and beauty.”
Do call in and meet Rita, see examples of her work and hear about her work and ideas. Free drop in event.
