The third and final talk by Kirsty Hartsiotis exploring the rich history of stained glass in the Cotswolds.
The 20th century saw huge artistic change, and the art of stained glass reflects those changes. From the Arts and Crafts glass, full of feeling and detail, by Christopher Whall at Gloucester cathedral, through the austere, refined glass of Ninian Comper and his followers, to the dalle-de-verre abstractions at Prinknash, to the many thoughtful and beautiful pieces by contemporary artist Tom Denny, this talk explores the new directions taken in stained glass in the last 120 years. There was a huge flowering of new glass for the millennium, but what lies ahead for stained glass in our churches in the future?
After the talk, enjoy coffee and cake and a chance to ask questions and share ideas.
