31 years ago 100s of local people were getting ready to put on Stroud’s first-ever community play - Making Up Time - at Stratford Park Leisure Centre. It was a story of the history of the five valleys, set in the 19th century and revolving around mill owners the Playne family. It was open to anyone to take part so over 600 members of the community contributed as actors, musicians, fundraisers, designers, artists and set builders etc.

This display features a small selection of material from an archive we have about the project: artworks, photographs and a card signed by members of the cast. If you remember or took part in the play, perhaps you might recognise some of the names.
