Refugees on Film 2020 - Stroud Film Festival

Following the successful screening and discussion at Refugees on Film 2019, we would like to introduce further refugees stories and discussion.

So much in the news has diverted our attention from the continuing situation of people leaving their homes and coming to Europe, affected by wars and climate. We hope to create a warm atmosphere for screening and discussion and to update our understanding of what life is like today for those who have come to find a new home.

The event will again be led by Dr Richard Dean. Richard Dean is a GP and has been working with refugee populations in camps in France such as the infamous ‘Jungle’ camp and in Greece, especially in Lesbos for the past 5 years. You can read about his work here : stroudfilmfestival.org/blog

Claire Levy is a film-maker and Senior Lecturer in Film at Bath Spa University. She is studying for a PhD in Visual Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research focuses on the use of film as a sociological research method.

Doors open at 7pm for drinks reception, screening at 7.30pm.

Tickets : £5, Concessions £3 , buy on the door or book in advance: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/book/event?eid=10114
