This year's stewarded exhibition by Stroud Local History Society tells the story of Stroud's public transport - from turnpikes and omnibuses to trains and the railcar, and Stroud bus station. There will be a guest display by Stroud Vintage Transport and Engine club, and a visiting bus on Saturday and Sunday (details below - these are subject to change). Other exhibits describe the development of Uplands, a brief history of Stroud's weavers, and old shops in our villages and town. There will be a rolling slideshow, book stall (new and second-hand) and a children's Quiz.
On Saturday: you can explore a 1979 single decker that has recently been restored to original livery; on Sunday: a 1948 vintage single decker. Both were in service in Stroud in their time.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday (12th-14th) the retired bus station manager Chris Blick plans to wear his old bus driver hat whilst stewarding! Do come along for a chat.
