Simon Packard

Exhibited 12 January - 24 February, 2013

Simon Packard has created a new suite of vibrant prints specifically for the Museum. Together they create an environment, an adventure for the viewer not just to see, but experience.

The gallery space has been totally transformed and the very physical, vital woodcuts cover the walls and are held lightly by clips. They are not prisoners, fixed in a frame, but speak of the possibility of change, flexibility and shift. A playful re-hang may be part of the exhibition. A celebration of pattern, these works are not about predictable repeat, but allow for evolution, dialogue. The industrial strength pigment used results in incredible rich colours, and surfaces, which take the prints towards sculpture. They could walk off the walls.
