Select Festival 2018

Hannah Waldron: Primary Traveller

Saturday 21 April - Saturday 19 May | Admission Free

Hannah began weaving in 2010 after an encounter with the weavings of Gunta Stölzl and Anni Albers at the Bauhaus archive in Berlin. In the learning of her craft, Hannah has often felt it is the process of stories, of place, travelling and narratives that take in all the senses. She now specialises in designing and creating research-led printed and woven textiles that have an emphasis on storytelling.

‘Primary Traveller’ is a nomadic modular structure that will house a new body of weavings specially created for the Festival.

Also on Saturday 21 April:

A workshop led by Hannah, exploring the fundamentals of weaving using miniature laser cut shaft looms. Experiment with textures and patterns, learn basic weaving structures or create your own miniature tapestry to take home.

An artist talk from Hannah, where she will describe her journey into weaving and how she believes the craft to be a relevant vehicle for an artist exploring the world today.
