These are perfect for reminiscence sessions with small groups or individuals. They can be borrowed by carers, care homes or community groups. Put together by Stroud Fare Shares, the containers themselves stimulate conversation (small suitcases, bags, a bread bin…) and are full of evocative objects which are intended to be handled and used.
Boxes can be borrowed, free of charge, for up to two weeks by contacting Steven Deproost, the Learning Officer at the Museum, using the Contact Us page.
Historical Handling Boxes For Schools
Boxes are available to support the topics: Toys & Games of the Past; Homes of the Past; The Home Front in World War II; and Romans. We will also put together bespoke boxes on other topics, if we have sufficient material available.
The cost of hiring a Historical handling box is £15 for 2 weeks. The boxes must be collected and returned by the borrower during Museum opening hours. Please note that we require ten days’ notice before borrowing one of our handling boxes. To find out more and to check availability, please contact our Learning officer using the Contact Us page.
