IMPRESS '13: Painterly Prints

Hughie O’Donoghue

Exhibited from 1 - 31 March, 2013

Admission free. Works for sale.

Hughie O’Donoghue is an artist who works both in Ireland and England whose work has frequently concerned myth, memory and history. He uses many mediums but printmaking remains an important element of his practice.

This exhibition features work from several series, notably ‘Verdant Field’ - a sequence of vibrant carborundum prints (some of which were shown in the Royal Academy in 2012) and ‘Rioba’ , a series of monotypes where the head of Rioba (a figure from Venice that is supposed to bring good luck) is used as a recurring motif; these heads are unique works fluid with interpretations on the same subject. This is a rare opportunity to see work of scale, context and intelligence.
