Work by Hannah Dyson

Landscape and Fairytale

Hannah Dyson

Exhibited from Saturday 4 August - Sunday 2 September, 2018

Hannah Dyson studied Illustration at Brighton University and then the Royal College of Art. Since working as a freelance illustrator her clients have included The Idler, The Guardian, The Independent and BBC Publishing.

She has lived in Stroud, Gloucestershire for the last eight years and has fallen in love with the rolling hills and mysterious valleys which surround the town. She’s currently an artist in residence at Prema, the wonderful Arts Centre based in a converted chapel in nearby Uley.

Using ink, brushes and Rotring pens Hannah draws her elements and textures, then assembles, cuts and colours via a graphic, multi-layered digital image. She has a passion for paper collaging and drawing with shapes. Her inspirations include the work of Maurice Sendak, Edward Gorey, Richard Scarry and Tove Jansson. She is also fascinated by fairytales and folk legends, and her images sometimes hint at darker, other-worldly goings on the deep woods beyond the sun-dappled fields.
