Project: ‘Crucial to Museum Sustainability’ – a modern Collections Management System for the Museum in the Park
Closing date for applications: 5pm Sunday 23rd June 2019
The Museum in the Park (a Stroud District Council service) is inviting bids from a suitably qualified and experienced consultant in the field of Collections Management Systems and Data Management in the heritage/cultural sector.
The lack of a modern, museum-specific collections management system (CMS) is one of the Museum’s greatest risks. Our existing out-dated CMS presents a genuine risk to the collections as well as compromising the quality of information we hold and are able to provide both internally and to our external users. This in turn presents a risk to the deliverability of our manifesto and mission.
We wish to procure external expertise to help us understand our needs in the context of what is available in terms of systems and their functionality. The consultant will refine our specification and create a detailed functionality specification document and Request for Proposals that can be shared with CMS vendors. This will enable us to cost the procurement and implementation of a new CMS, including the project delivery approach, in turn allowing us to seek funding.
The project must be completed by the end of January 2020.
Please refer to the Consultant Brief for full details.
Funding for this consultancy has come from South West Museum Development Business Diagnostic Programme (funded by Arts Council England).
