Moving Art: Animation in Stroud

In the mid 20th century Stroud was home to Britain’s most influential animation company: Halas and Batchelor. This exhibition tells the story of their presence in Stroud and the local people who worked there. It features cels and artworks from various animations, including from the studio’s most famous work ‘Animal Farm’.

Young cartoonists and aspiring animators aged 12-17 are invited to join Jay Clarke for a storyboard workshop. An amazing opportunity to learn from a professional - be sure to book early to avoid disappointment!

If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at creating animated pictures then this is your chance to take the first step! Join Jay Clarke and see how he creates storyboards at Aardman Animations and then have a go at creating your own storyboard.

Moving Art: Flick Book Children's Workshop with Tracy Spiers

Saturday 18 March | 2pm - 4pm | £5

Children aged 7 to 12 are invited to join local illustrator Tracy Spiers and make their own simple flick book, learning the first steps of animation along the way. This special workshop is part of the ‘Animation in Stroud’ pop up programme celebrating the little know story of the early days of animated films in the UK.
