Carry Akroyd

Exhibited from Thursday 1 January - Sunday 1 March, 2015

A Gallery 2 exhibition of artist's prints. Please be aware that Gallery 2 is a multi-use space, to avoid disappointment call ahead before making a special trip.

This exhibition shows a series of hand-drawn lithographs which incorporate quotations from the poems of John Clare, the nineteenth century ‘Peasant Poet’.

Carry Akroyd is a painter and printmaker whose images examine the relationship between wildlife and the farming landscape, but are just as much about colour and composition. After studying for an MA in Fine Art, and illustrating two books of John Clare’s poetry (‘The Shepherds Calendar’ and ‘The Wood is Sweet’) Carry wrote and illustrated her own book ‘Natures Powers and Spells, Landscape Change, John Clare and Me’. She continues to be inspired by the poetry of John Clare.
